Doumbia makes return in 4-0 romping of Alania

CSKA Moscow's Ivorian striker, Seydou Doumbia, has made his return from a series of injuries to score his side's final goal in a 4 goal victory over Alania Vladikavkaz on Monday. Last season's Russian Premier League top scorer has suffered from multiple knee and back injuries that have kept him out of contention since August. Vagner Love continued his successful return to the club, laying on Alan Dzagoev's opener before scoring two of his own in the second half. Ahmed Musa had another quiet game and was replaced by Doumbia in the 75th minute. Doumbia looked rusty as one would expect after almost 6 months off, but his skill was evident as he turned the ball into the back of the net in stoppage time as Dzagoev turned provider.

Doumbia still appears to lack the fitness to play for a full 90 minutes, so another substitute appearance or a 60 minute run-out looks likely for next weekend, however CSKA will be buoyed by the return of one of their most successful ever players. Leonid Slutskiy will surely be hoping that Doumbia can re-ignite his fabled partnership with Love, especially as CSKA has lacked creativity of late in the absence of Keisuke Honda due to illness.
